Minutes of Asha Seattle Meeting on 02/ 26/09

Attendees: Vibhavaree, Srijan, Nagendra, Binay, Divya, Amar

1) Topic: Site visit reports by Soumya and Nagendra  Presenter: Nagendra,

· Nagendra explained the Hemophilia disease and its impact.

· Organization established in 1992 under Hemophilia Federation by India by a doctor who is himself Hemophiliac.  Board has well recognized persons of Bangalore. Ms. Ranjana look after the day to day activity.

· Regular activities, also attended by outside Bangalore Hemophiliacs. Activities involve clinic, physiotherapy, picnic, …

· Soumya visited open clinic. Doctor and Physiotherapist gave presentation to around 200 people that came to that clinic that day.

· Talked about condition of one of the attendee. He is in teens but was suffering from Tuberculosis and has lost one eye.

· Nagendra talked about his visit to admin office and hospital. He brought up improving and bringing advanced equipment with the officials.

· Asha supports physiotherapist salary and 8-9 children. It is waiting on FCRA clearance to send money. Education, physiotherapy and medicine cost are covered for these children. Soumya recommended reviewing more the closely the funding use for these children.

· Question: Need clarity on disbursement method for education and medical expenses. Does it go directly to family, or school/medicine?

2) Topic: Calendar prepared by Asha project partner  Presenter: Srijan.

· There is a proposal from Timbaktu to make hand made 1000 calendars on similar cost as we get from Tulika press for recent years calendars. Pooja has raised concern about the number of calendars made by each student and hence time spent on it.

· Need a volunteer to coordinate

· After some discussion it was decided to put vote online

3) Topic: Chapter coordinator update  Presenter: Binay

· Finance team is about to present the finance report

· Annual report got delayed in newsletter team. It is actively being worked on to get it out of the door.

· Geetanjali is getting into next phase and need volunteer help.

4) Topic: Project coordinators update  Presenter: Vibhavaree

· March 21^st workshop focused on project. Agenda still to be decided.

· Roles and responsibility distribution has changed amongst project coordinator and the details will be sent out soon to Asha Seattle.

5) Topic: Baarah Aana  Presenter: Vibhavaree

· Movie releasing on 3/13. Director is coming in June to US. Story about three people moving from rural area to Mumbai. Due to low attendance, we decided that Vibhavaree will bring it up in next chapter meeting.
