Presenter: Eera Priority: important/high. Time:10 minutes Item: Need a co-coordinator vol for our newsletter. Description: Asha-Seattle newsletter is a way of reaching out to our donors, and volunteers (new and existing). We have consistently put together a newsletter every quarter four times a year for the last 5 years (Yay!). - Job entails collecting articles, coordinating with designer, have a flair for writing - Prathibha & Priya have volunteered to be the new co – coordinators
Presenter: Binay/Subhasish Priority: must Time: 30 minutes Name of the Group: Uthnau Established: 1996 With Asha 2001 Location: Birbhum, West Bengal What they do: Help Santhali children cope with education through their own language, providing health-care & raising community awareness towards sustainable development of the region. Their focus includes fighting for the rights of adibashis & developing sustainable alternatives to mining. Presenter: Rajiv/Marathon Coords Priority: must Time: 10 minutes Signing up volunteers for the water station and recovery booth at this year’s marathon. Also signing up volunteers for the Expo booth on Friday. - 25 volunteers for water booth – 7AM to 1PM - Expo booth – Sat/Fri before Marathon. Talk to people about Asha - Sent mail to Asha Seattle groups, seeking volunteers - Let Rajiv (rajiv.bharadwaja@microsoft.Com / Sriram know if you would like to sign up. Chapter Coordinates Updates - Palani - Asha calendars are available for $10. Contact Palani if you need one. - Srijan - Asha workshop coming up on Dec 7th. Sent agenda items to Srijan. - Binay - Co branding with Barnes & Noble. Proposal coming up soon to discuss what our stand is on co branding with other companies. - Eera – there will be a conf call with Asha-SV to discuss how to deal with huge projects. Volunteers are encouraged to attend. - Palani – Survey regarding Asha Volunteer experiences. Anyone interested in contributing to creating this survey, please contact Palani. - Palani - Microsoft Giving campaign raised $378,000 (including matching amounts) for this year. Postmortem to be scheduled to discuss this year’s Giving campaign.
Presenter: Siddharth Raghavan Priority: High Time: 20 minutes Name of the Group : NAB (Karnataka) Established: 2007 Location: Bangalore, Karnataka What they do: The National Association for the Blind – Karnataka Branch is continuing its Multi Sensory Impaired Project (Deaf/blind) by extending rehabilitation/ training services to deaf/blind adults. The objective is to make them economically independent in life, bring them to main stream of the society. To use the surplus funds of last year, we have a proposal for training teachers to help children with multiple sensory disorders. Reason for presentation, action needed: Approval for recurring proposal for rehabilitation services to adults suffering from multiple sensory disorders. Approval for new proposal to use last year's surplus funds to train teachers to help children with multiple sensory disorders. Finance: Recurring: Rs. 3,41,000 Proposal for unspent amount last year: Rs.1,05,615 Size: Number of adults for rehabilitation services : 6, Number of teachers for training: 10 teachers Site visit status: yes Project page: http://www.ashanet. org/projects/ project-view. php?p=121 - No budget increase from last year - Clarifications needed o Amount unspent / Sent across last year is based on last year’s rate. So if we deduct what we sent this year, ensure the exchange rate is taken into account. o Amount unspent last year due to – teacher coming in late, less residential participants, etc. o The proposed amount for this year is ~3.5 lakhs, which is more than last year’s approved amount (without accounting for last year’s unspent amount). As per the current policy, increase in budget is not allowed. o Increase is coming from extra instructor. o Need to know other reasons for increased budget o Need exact amounts required for this year. The amounts don’t seem clear. o Unspent money should be deducted from their ask for this year. o Clarify the cycle for the budget proposed for this year. Is it June – June o By when is the approval needed? - Come back and present this again once the Qs are clarified.
