  • Site visits - get volunteers to visit projects. Question – paying
    traveling expenses for volunteers who are willing to do a site visit.
    Not clear on agenda, bring it up later.

    a) do it only as last resort.

  • Points raised - Is 1 or 2 days going to be profitable & Volunteer bandwidth for coordination.

Need more details

  • who are the children, who are the teachers.
  • Details on their methodology.
  • how they are going to cover all courses.
  • Sanctuary conference - need a separate full presentation.

 

DISCUSSION - Right To Education Bill - Vibhavaree

 

Discussed the 25% reservation in private schools.

 

Against

  • Govt. is pushing its responsibility over to private schools.
  • The private schools which are innovative, can be burdened to a extent that it kills the enterprise.
  • Integration is going to be a problem.
  • How are the children going to be able to cope with the standard of reading and writing. There will be need for bridge schools.

For

  • Problem of segregation in the society, starts from education system. Neighbourhood school system is better. Common School System is the way to go.
  • This is the way for the section of society to get better education, assuming that the private schools provide better education.
  • A discussion was had, and of the remaining people in the meeting 6
    people were for, and 3 against the bill.
