Seattle Meeting, Nov 17, 2004 Venue: Redmond Regional Library Attendees: Raj, Rahul, Swati, Ganga, Vani, Arindam,
Ravi, Rajit, Srijan, Shayon, Ram, Parna, Radhesh, Akshay Introduction and Update by Srijan --------------------------------- * Seattle Marathon Many runners and walkers are targetting to raise $100 per mile. Around 40 participants are expected. Participants who have not yet given their profiles have to do it soon to update the WebPages. * Asha Global Audit Asha Seattle's budget and funds range between 25-30% of Asha US. So we should expect to contribute around $1000 for the asha wide auditor fee. Projects Discussed ------------------- 1. Vidya Bhawan Presented by Rahul. We have funded them in the past. The previous steward Amit did not recommend huge funds in future. It! is a fairly large organization in Rajasthan and pretty well connected. The proposal was to sponsor some workshops and training programs to train teachers in as many as 40 schools in 2 areas - Safety and Environment education. Members felt that the budget was exaggerated and Rahul to get back with some answers before voting. A site visit is also required. 2. Learning Network Kathalaya Workshops - Presented by Raj Sponsorship sought out for Hyderabad and Mumbai workshops. Raj to get back with Budget questions (Registration Fee). Unanimous vote on funding it 3. Sambhavna update by Raj A health clinic in Bhopal for the Gas Tragedy Victims started by Satyu(Satinath Sarangi). Had Women's health and Survey Programs. Result of Survey about disabled kids need to be compiled and published. 4. Urmul Jyoti Update By Raj A novel project started by Chetan Raj. 6 month Boot camps for around 130 girls to help them clear fifth grade ! and also to give them some simple vocational training. Looking ahead for more camps in future. Administration -------------- Arindam nominated Parna as an additional Chapter Project Co-coordinator. Unanimously accepted. Bhopal Gas Tragedy event presented by Vani Tasveer is screening a documentary movie. The chapter accepted to team up with Tasveer to promote this event. Based on availability of volunteers, we may have Booth in UW campus on Dec 3rd on 20 yrs of the tragedy and/or a post movie discussion/event after the movie.No expenses foreseen. |
