Minutes of Asha Seattle Meeting, Sep 2, 2004

Venue: Steven’s Court (UW Campus)

Attendees: Vibhavaree, Ravi, Bash, Sairam, Lakshmi, Rajiv, Ramkumar, Sachin, Sunil, Parna, Ranjit, Swati.

The agenda discussed were

1.      AllGoRythms:

Send emails to your friends. Till now we have sold 220. Need to reach 700.
Volunteers For:
1) Day of Event - 4 required at around 10:00Am and get done by 2:00pm.

2.      Bash talked about New Volunteer Orientation. 

3.      Golf Tournament (Bash):

·         Publicize it

·         Four prizes each for first and second position.

o        1st prize – Vibhavaree

o        2nd prize - Sairam, Sunil

·         somebody to talk about Asha

4.      Conference call (Vibhavaree):  

It was about

·         Efforts of all chapters together.

·         State and central government structure.

·         About different government schools.

·         There is lot of money given to government but corruption is a problem.

·         Policies of government are good but implementation is difficult.

·         Problem - Quality of teaching and number of teachers is low.

·         Government ready to work with NGOs and that is good point where we can
be involved.

·         Teachers are paid well.

5.      Asha – Oregon:  

FCRIA clearance required and so they could not help in giving money to a school.

Vibhavaree will forward on Y! group and if anybody wants to join then
they can reply to her.

6.      Swati talked about-

·         Mid School as of now 87 girls.

·         Doing through support a child.

·         Article about the school in ...

·         Need Support a child volunteers.

·         Email Swati if you are interested.

·         Time required 3-4 hrs per month after a donor is found.
