Minutes of meeting on 3/18
Volunteers
present: Binay, Swati, Srijan, Arindam, Raghav, Srinivas, Arvind,
Ravi
New volunteers: Smita, Sunil Gowda, Vibhavari, Paramita, Charu
Swati talked about 3 things:
1. Proposal to introduce to
better coordinate interaction within a project,
especially when there is more
than one volunteer, not all of whom may be on
email (e.g., when a volunteer
is in India). Such a system is set up in
Asha-Princeton. Issues that came up: (1)
Should we make it optional or
mandatory for each project?, (2) Set it up online as part of ashanet,
(3)
Will it be the responsibility
of the project steward?
2. Proposal to organize a
regional conference in Seattle.
Initial idea is to
have it over the memorial day
weekend. Preeti will oversee arrangements.
Binay volunteered to be the tour guide.
Other volunteers: Srijan, Ravi,
Raghav.
3. Asha
elections coming up: so far, the coordinators (project coord,
finance coord,
web coord, etc.) were only formal positions to fulfil IRS
requirements; there is a plan
this year to make these "real" positions, and
to have volunteers assigned
under each coord.
AllGoRhythms Concert (Shreekrishna,
Sangeetha):
1. The proposal is to hold
this year's concert in the UW Mini-Hall (capacity
1200, will cost ~$3500
totally with lights, etc.), as opposed to Kane Hall
which is not very
acoustically designed.
2. The expected attendance
this year is about 750 (more than last year).
3. May increase the ticket
price, to say $18 in advance, and $20 at the
door.
4. Proposed date: Sept
18th/19th.
5. Need to arrange sponsors
There was also a discussion
on the logistics of the Geetanjali concert.)
