Minutes for 03/03/2004.

Brief round of introductions.
Agenda items:
Raj has made list of projects on hold
that have been brought up in the meetings in past.
UMBVS: Asha supporting them for 3 years. It was
supposed to be supported by govt. The proposal is for next year July
2004-June 2005. Raj's opinion,
there is a need for funding. The schools are based in small rooms to very
basic infrastructure. Swati suggested support a
school type of funding module.
CMS: Rahul has sent several reminders for WAH
with no other response.
Swati plans to put forth a health
proposal (comprehensive community approach) from CMS. It is for about Rs. 35,98,000, including both
recurring (salaries, training, medicines) and non-recurring (infrastructure).
It will be better to put forward only a part of it something like training,
medicine and treatment part.
Sunil also recommended MICDA for WAH. Asha has
been working with them for about 7 years, though Seattle chapter has been involved for last
year. But
Asha Seattle has taken up their
financial commitment for the next year.
MICDA: Sunil presented a detailed site visit report. Online copy of the
report is available on our website. Complete minutes-writing of this agenda
item was not possible due to unavailability of the laptop ;).
ETI (Educational Trust of India): Autonomous body that would be initiated
by the government and sponsored by corporate sources. The idea is to setup
schools in different parts of India
(rural and socio-economically backward areas). Subroto
mentioned about the type of organization he wants ETI to be and he wants
inputs from Asha.
