Attendees:
Anita, Vivek, Arindam, Preeti, Raj, Puspha, Swati, Rahul, Srijan, Lakshmi, I. Pankaj Gupta as Asha-Wide Treasurer was briefly discussed and his nomination was ratified by the chapter. II.
Venue for Choti Si Asha
was discussed. There are a number of options but they need to be
investigated further. Mercer Island HS is the last resort as it is
expensive. Pushpa will look into venue
options and follow-up with Jayashree directly. III. V-Excel Educational Trust proposal forwarded to Asha by Somasagar at Microsoft was discussed. Lakshmi has visited the school and thought it was a well-run schools for the disabled children. However, there were a number of questions that were raised. Some of them were: - What is the economic and social background of the children attending the school? - How many students pay fee and how much? How many students from lower-income background get fee-waiver? - What is their outreach to the community? And how do they do it? - Do they interface with regular schools? - Current sources of income? Recurring expenses? - How much are they asking for? IV. CMS Discussion – Swati presented the detailed budget for the 1-time cost of extending the hostel (approx. $16.5k) and for latrine/dining area ($17.8k). There was good discussion on some of the line items and some people also bought up the issue that wouldn’t it be cheaper to construct the 2nd floor now rather than later. Regarding the timing of the funding – it was decided that check will be mailed only after Asha Seattle finds out how much money has been collected through Microsoft GIVE campaign. This will make sure the recurring expenses for all active projects are covered before disbursement of any 1-time expenses for any of the projects. ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> V.
