Minutes of the meeting held on April 16, 2005

After being introduced, Dr. Sudhakar gave a
fascinating account of the work in progress at the
Haritha Ecological Institute which came into existence
at the present 12-acre campus in 1994.

Haritha Ecological Institute is an educational
institution comprising a residential school and an R&D
Center.  The common thread running through all its
programs is a concern with the environment and
environmental education is integrated into the
curriculum.  Dr. Sudhakar described the mechanisms
developed at the Institute to harness cattle and
bicycle power for generating electricty and wet
grinding.  He also described a lot of projects
involving the use of bamboo as construction material.

The talk was followed by a review of the status of the
fundraiser on April 30, 2005.
