Notes from the Conference Call on March 22, 2002 - by Dipali A Conference call was held to discuss pulicity options for the fundraiser and/or Asha relating specifically to TV Asia. The following points were discussed or agreed upon: 1) Rajesh had contacted TV Asia (nationally televised) and presented their offer to us as follows (50% discount included). $50 per 30 second slot on Prime Time (6 - 9 pm, weekends and evenings) $75 per minute slot on Prime Time $25 per 30 second slot during the day The most appealing part was that TV Asia agreed to grant us a 28 minute Prime Time slot for an "interview" which we could use to inform viewers about the goals and workings of Asha. 2) Members agreed to spend $300-$500 on these above mentioned slots on the condition that we get the desirable "interview' slot as well. Rajesh will communicate this to TV Asia. On Rajesh asking for the interview without the advertisments - members understood that there may be embarrasment in asking for the interview slot WITHOUT paying for the advertisement slots. There was little or no pressure in trying to get the interview free. 3) There was a long discussion on what the focus of the advertisements in these slots would be - Asha or fundraiser or a specific combination of both. Finally, it was agreed that the focus would be on the fundraiser since the interview gives us an opportunity to describe Asha. Varsha, Shankar and Kumar (any other volunteers ?) will work on producing the video and voice overlay. The plan is to have a slide show with a voice/sound overlay. Please forward any suggestions to Dipali. If, for any reason, we find ourselves in the desired situation that we have sold all or most fundraiser tickets and we have a few slots yet to show, we would use these to inform viewers about Asha as opposed to the fundraiser. We will need to come up with a different presentation if this happens (not assigned or decided yet). Action items after Rajesh confirms this deal: 1) Determine how this interview will be conducted and who will participate. Some ideas were discussed but no decisions made. 2) Produce the interview. 3) Actually produce the advertisements. Specific production costs were not discussed but members found the ballpark figure of $200 suitable.
