Minutes of the Saturday, Feb 25, 2006 meeting. (Minutes by Ravi) Present: Ananya, Amrish, Dileep, Kumar, Sridhar, Ravi, Aparna Abhyankar, New: Jalpa Shulka, Preethi Narayanan, Moyetree Konwar 1. The chapter was introduced to 3 new attendees -- Jalpa, Preethi, Moytree. 2. Disussion on two Asha wide proposals was initiated. The meeting felt that more details were needed on both the proposals. On the fellowship proposal, the reasons/positives/negatives for increasing the upper limit were discussed. On the automatic funding for proposals from Asha India, absence of oversight or monitoring by a US Asha chapter was considered to be an issue. It was decided to have a follow up conference call or meeting soon to discuss the proposals so that the chapter can indicate its decision in the Asha wide polls. 3. Aparna provided a progress report of her efforts on the Asha Utsav. She informed of the availability of a middle school auditorium in Franklin township, and that Gandhar, an Indian music group, is ready to perform pro bono. There was a lively debate on the goals, issues, benefits, merits, and appropriateness of the event. There were arguments and counter arguments on whether or not to hold the Asha Utsav. The debate was inconclusive and meeting requested Aparna to obtain an approximate estimate of costs based on which the chapter may decide to go ahead with the event. 4. Discussion on Chilla project could not be taken up because of lack of time. Ravi.
