Minutes of the chapter meeting held on 01/13/07 at 4.30pm. 

Present: Ravi, Sowmya, Anjani, Kavitha, Hansa, Vinay, Jalpa, Dileep, 
Sridhar, Vikas 
New: Ripple Shah, Karan Bhatia, Sumi Bhatia. 


The following items were discussed: 


Meeting started with introductions of new attendees. A brief account of 
the projects at the chapter was provided to the new attendees. 
Possibility of high school children participating and/or contributing 
to the Asha came up for a discussion as Karan (new attendee) was 
interested. It was suggested that Jalpa, Dileep, Ripple and others may 
work on this further to formulate a program where high school children 
may have a platform to participate in Asha activities. 


1. Asha calendar distribution: Asha 2007 calendar is a good publicity 
material and the chapter obtained 250 calendars for distribution among 
the donors. Each calendar costs $5. It was decided to distribute 
calendars as compliments to the donors who contributed more than $100 
and sell rest of the calendars at a minimum price of $5 each. Any 
excess amount collected in the sales would be used to offset the 
purchase cost of the calendars. The calendars distributed to the donors 
would be part of the fund raising expenses (including marathon). 


2. Publicity event: The chapter has been organizing an Indian cultural 
event typically in spring for fund rising cum publicity every year. As 
the chapter feels confident about the TeamAsha marathon program for 
fund raising, it was decided to organize a publicity event. Different 
ways of organizing the publicity event were discussed. However, to 
conserve the resources that may be needed for the upcoming Asha-16 
conference and the marathon program, it was decided to postpone the 
publicity event to the fall/winter time. However, depending on the time 
and resources, it was decided to pursue short forms of publicity in 
involving presentation of the projects to the donors to solicit support 
to the on going projects and runners for the marathon. 


3. New proposals: Could not be taken up due to lack of time. It was 
decided to take up this discussion in the next meeting on 01/27. 


4. ARC proposal on RTE: A pending ARC (Asha Representative Council) 
proposal on RTE that needs to be discussed by the chapter was taken up. 
The minutes of this discussion were posted by Jalpa on thread 
(http://groups.google.com/group/ashaprinceton/browse_thread/thread/bb3...). 
The chapter needs to communicate its stand on this proposal along with 
the documented minutes of the discussion to the ARC. 


The next meeting is on 01/27/07.
